Being an "outstanding student" and "role model" has earned Erick Ramirez a nomination for the career-technical award.

"He is an inspiration to other fellow students and even me," wrote teacher Al Irwin in his nomination letter. "I believe he will take his work ethic with him and do a good job in whatever career he decides to do."

The student said his favorite aspect about technical classes at San Pasqual are the welding projects that allow students to get creative and make something.

Ramirez is a senior at San Pasqual High School, where he is active in the Mestizo Club. He also plays football and wrestles and has received the Warrior award for his performance in sports.

He is the son of Enrique Ramirez and Teresa Ramirez. He plans to attend Arizona Western College and pursue a career in engineering.
