Janet Diaz, a San Luis High School senior, is described by social studies teacher Erik Randall as a talented and intelligent student who is a leader in the classroom.
Diaz is one of the most gifted students in written and verbal expression Randall teaches, he wrote in his nomination letter.
"Janet has proven time and time again that she is truly gifted in her ability to shape arguments and express herself," Randall wrote.
According to the teacher, Diaz is a genuine and caring person who puts the same care for individuals as she puts in her school work - a type of dedication that will help her in the pursue of a career in medicine.
Diaz is involved in the National Honor Society and Family and Career Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and volunteers at the San Jose Health Clinic. Among the academic awards she's earned are the United States Achievement Academy: Who's Who in Leadership Award, FCCLA Bronze Medal and becoming a member of the SLHS A-Team.
